Time to Take a Walk

All truly great thoughts are conceived by walking.

Friedrich Nietzsche

There is something about taking a walk that clears the mind and centers the soul.  Things that weighed emotionally very heavy before walking seemed lighter after the walk.

When I am emotionally beat down, I put on the walking shoes.  I get my CD player and my friend Charlotte Hillman’s CD – Hallelujah, Let’s Praise His Name (Recorded Live at the Covenant Life Family Worship Center in Oklahoma City) and away I go. I like to walk into the Arizona Sunrise listening to Charlotte’s mother do the Lord’s Prayer.

I watch the sun come up over the eastern mountains looking over into the Phoenix Valley.  When her Amen is finished I am off.  The music is pumping and I am stepping.

The first half mile is always the toughest.  It’s the one that laughs at you.  It reminds you are of how messed up you are physically and emotionally and no amount of walking can change that.

My friend, keep on walking in spite of your own negative emotions and self–talk working against you.  You are working on your healing and well-being.  Keep on walking.

The next half mile passes and you begin to get centered on not looking back but looking forward.  Keep in mind that people who live in the past always get left behind.  Keep on walking.

I hope you brought something to make notes with.  Your negative self–talk has been beaten back as you walk your third half mile.  Positive inspirational thoughts are coming to you now and you wonder how you never thought of these practical ideas before.  Keep on walking.

The demons that have held you, hostage, all your life are falling by the way.  They lose their power as you become stronger and stronger, freer and freer to be the empowered loving one you have been born to be.

Keep walking.  Finish your two miles and go home refreshed.  Know you can handle your life instead of letting it handle you.  You will begin to notice you feel better soon.  If you look close now, you may begin to see new plants bursting the ground where you planted your healing seed.
